Wearing sunscreen can reduce the risk of skin cancer.
What is SPF?
SPF is an acronym for “sun protective factor”. The SPF number is an indication of how long it takes for the UV rays from the sun to affect the skin. If you are outdoors, it is recommended to use SPF 30 or higher which is also water resistant. Sunscreen should be reapplied every 90 minutes.
How can you protect your skin from the sun on game days?
Wear a hat with a 2-3 inch brim
Reapply a water-resistant sunscreen every 90 minutes
Bring your sunglasses
Seek shade
Too much exposure to ultraviolet (UV) rays is the cause of most skin cancers.
UV rays damage the skin cells.
UV exposure comes from the sun, sun lamps, and tanning beds.
